Hyman, Dick Orchestra - Give It Up Or Turn It Loose

It's worth noting this Dick Hyman Orchestra record is an instrumental cover of James Brown's "Give It Up Or Turnit A Loose". Hyman, who turns 81 in March of this year, is known primarily for his jazz work and also his seminal synthesizer recordings, particularly "Moon Gas" and "Moog: The Electric Eclectics of Dick Hyman," both of which feature his more spaced out take on psychedelia. Although it would be easy to situate his synthesizer work on the same stylistically esoteric plane as the work of Ken Nordine, Mort Garson, Perrey and Kingsley, and Walter/Wendy Carlos, Hyman has in fact gone back to his jazz roots. DJ Food sampled Hyman's record on his "Part 2 Doing It To Death" mix, which is a James Brown inspired recording.
