The Young Senators were a seven-member all male group formed in 1965 with a lineup including Leroy Fleming, Frank Hooker, James Johnson, Wornell Jones, David Lecraft, Jimi Dougans and the late Calvin Charity. The group became known as the "Emperors of Go-Go" and had a number one hit in the DC metropolitan area with "The Jungle" before they collaborated with their mentor Eddie Kendricks in an association that lasted eight years.
