Before Joe and his band Free Soul were picked up on GSF, they recorded this as their first single with the local DC label Mantis. This track was the only track ever released by them on the Mantis label. The red Mantis label is the official release, the blue is a bootleg.

Soul vocalist Ann Alford made just one single.the title is:"Got to Get Me a Job" and not:"gotta get me a job"/bside:"If It Ain't One Thing (It's Another)," which came out on the Shreveport, LA, Hy-Sign label in 1972.

Jul 24 2002 5:53AM by Leon West
"Got To Get Me A Job" and the flip side "If It Ain't One Thing It's Another" were both written by Ann's husband Don Alford. Both tunes were produced by Dee Marais and Jimmy Johnson (any relation to the D Marais that produced the World Wonders "Funky Washing Machine"). Hy Sign were based in Shreveport, LA 861-3158.
